WARNING! WARNING!  WARNING! Do you think you know all you need to know about ‘Functional Foods’? Think again. Why? Because what you are about to read may blow your mind and your money away.  And also don’t be deceived even by the term ‘Functional’ in any way!
BY READING THIS ARTICLE  you assume that good fortune has brought you this eye opening article today - but it actually hasn’t. This great chance is entirely  of your own making. And when I say good ‘fortune’, I not only mean what  you are now reading  you have already qualified for. And fortunately, you also have an excellent chance to  improve your body and health for ‘good’. Get the picture?
HOWEVER, THE QUESTION STILL REMAINS, ‘Are you prepared for any eventuality?” Anyway don’t stop now, but continue to read! But be mentally prepared to read fully from start to finish, if you dare! OK?

FIRST THING FIRST, allow me to explain what is this mysterious ‘functional foods’. Incidentally don’t be dumbstruck  if it is  said that they are  just foods which suppose to offer extra health benefits. And in addition to have nutrition also gained from its standard foods. Furthermore, conditionally foods can be only be considered functional if they are naturally contain specific nutrients which will enhance health. Also they must have been fortified with recognized nutrients such as vitamins and etc. Lastly they must be enriched with nutrients or ingredients proven to offer specific health benefits. Sound easy to understand now? You bet!
Although we have done the ground work, yet be forewarned that even before we jump deep into the unchartered waters of ‘functional foods’ let’s  first test the water with our ‘toes’. Any objections? If ‘No’ they let’s fast forward! Why wait?
OVERVIEW:
Below are little golden ‘nuggets’ for you to view quickly, before we closely observe in full details. To be brutally honest, all ‘functional food’ to be classified as such types  must not in any tainted  by these caveats or searching questions.
·        Is the amount of the added nutrients  too low to be useful?

·        Is the added nutrient denatured, unavailable or ineffective?

·        Would consuming the functional foods lulls  you into a false sense of security?

·        Could such food by  itself is not healthy?
Would this ‘overview’ rings a clear and crisp bell to you now? If ‘no’, fear not. Rest assured just by you continuing reading the following paragraphs will do the trick. You have my words!
By the way, it seems that common sense should answer these question but I’ve been asked so many times that I am convinced that many people still does not know the answer yet!

Moving on, let me throw you  the next searching question. And that’s none other than... .

QUESTIONS NO. 1.DOES THE AMOUNT OF THE ADDED NUTRIENT IS TOO LOW TO BE USEFUL?
No matter how you argue  or try to justify , common sense will reveal  the right answer to this question number one.  By reading the label of the food contents will reveal the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  Hence, sometime, the nutrients has only trace elements. Nothing more and nothing less.
Therefore, believe me, it would you be better off taking a relevant  and independent supplement instead. Get my drift?

Hello, If you are ready to see what’s next look like, go ahead and continue reading but brace yourself first! Right?

QUESTIONS NO. 2. IS THE ADDED NUTRIENT DENATURED, UNAVAILABLE OR INEFFECTIVE?
Truthfully,  this question is  highly critical. My personal experience have proven  it’s often the case. There are  some  famous ‘functional foods’ with the added probiotics (live bacteria)that is not worth the money paid for. You don’t need a Ph.D. to understand and catch the offending ‘culprit’ manufacturers! Now can you connect the ‘dots’.  You bet again!

By the way, are these questions begin to sound suspicious  familiar. Don’t be! Just continue reading. And you will then judge them rightly or wrongly. Deal?

QUESTIONS NO.3. WOULD CONSUMING THE FUNCTIONAL FOODS LULLS  YOU INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY?
Allow me to paraphrase this question as a stern warning.  Make sure that eating functional foods does not entice  you into a untrue sense of protection. Furthermore,  it could also make you think you are consuming adequate and effective amounts of important nutrients. Trust me this may not be always  the case. Take a minute to let that ‘admonition’ sink in, really sink in. Ok?

Lastly,  this bring us yet another highly critical question   to consider! Jokes aside!

QUESTIONS NO.4. COULD SUCH FOOD BY  ITSELF IS NOT HEALTHY AT ALL?
Believe me eating more of it to gain an added nutrient may sometimes  undermine  the overall health of your diet. In all honesty, the above question may raise great doubts that  by eating large amounts of margarine, for example, is not necessarily the best way to consume phytosterols (plant sterols) to reduce cholesterol. Truly,  it  does not make sense to eat more margarine purely for the added plant compounds to help minimize cholesterol. Agree or  not. You call the shot!
If you read nothing else   far then read this concluding paragraph slowly and word for word. OK?

CONCLUSION.
In many ways, the end of this article is just the beginning: the beginning of a brand new way of living for you. Without a shadow of doubt, everyone  understands that a good diet is your best prescription for a healthy life. But yet we are more confused than ever about what to eat. A good diet means balance and moderation as verified by the above four questions. Hence, neither high-protein nor high-carbohydrate diets by themselves meet that criteria. The article I believe does.

Hopefully, this article has cleared up much of this confusion because ultimately any diet write-up must be based on common sense. Hippocrates told us some 2,500-years ago that we must treat food with the same respect with which we treat any drug. His words are still ring true today. Must I say more? I guess not!
